HOTEL URBAN [BA(Hons) INTERIOR DESIGN - 2012]
The project is about the reuse of a building which is located in the west side of Thessaloniki, Greece. The building is converted into a small hotel named URBAN. The hotel is easily accessed and is an appropriate destination for young travellers. The main concept derives from the city map. The building is converted into a virtual map, where the basic urban plan square-block-street becomes the main idea, giving the visitor the opportunity to navigate and collect information about the city of Thessaloniki. The main draft principle of the project is the creation of routes within the building, which range from the most public-collective to more private spaces. A basic route is formed which provides access to all the parts of the hotel, allowing visitors to wander in all directions with unclear boundaries, like being in a city.
