CAFE CIRCUS [BA(Hons) INTERIOR DESIGN - 2012]
The project is about remodeling the space of a Café which is located in the ground floor of Electra Palace Hotel in Aristotelous Square, Thessaloniki Greece. Aristotelous Square was designed by Ernest Hébrard and has Byzantine and Western architectural characteristics. It is a crowded place where many people cross every day as it is the centre square of Thessaloniki. The main characteristic is the two-sided views both of the sea and the arcade. The owner asked for a renovation that will give the appropriate style so as to approach young people, taking into consideration the importance of the building. The main concept derives from the shape of Aristotelous square, the arcs and the circles. Translating the forms of the square, different circles penetrate the space shaping the interior. The circle is defined as a meeting point, a spot where people will gather.
